How we make money

Short version: some links to SanDisk and Amazon can earn Expansion Bay a commission. We label paid links beside the recommendation. Other retailer routes remain unpaid unless the page says otherwise. Payment never changes our ranking or the price you pay.

Current paid relationships

We participate in the SanDisk affiliate program through CJ and in the Amazon Associates program. A qualifying consumer purchase after a paid link may earn us a commission from the retailer. Eligibility, attribution, returns and program terms are controlled by that retailer or affiliate network, so a paid link does not mean every purchase pays us.

Why you can check that for yourself

The easiest way to tell whether a site like this is honest is to see whether it sends you somewhere it makes nothing from. We still do. When an exact product route is unpaid, we say so beside the link. We do not replace it with a larger or less suitable product just because that alternative could pay us.

We also tell people when they already have enough room. In that case, the storage check offers no hardware. When a current listing differs from the manufacturer’s reference price, we show both numbers as context and leave the decision with the shopper.

What we will never do

• Show a price we have not actually checked, or leave a stale one up without saying it is stale.
• Present an estimate as a fact. Unknown things are marked unknown, including install sizes everyone else is guessing at.
• Rank a product higher because it pays more.
• Write or commission a fake review.
• Sell your email address.

If we ever sell something directly

If we start selling storage ourselves, our own listing will sit in the same table as everyone else’s, priced the same way. The page will show the exact current listing and the same price context we use for every retailer.

We are independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. We use those names only to describe what works with what.
