How we check storage advice
Console storage is harder to buy than it should be. A USB drive can hold a current-generation game without being able to launch it. A drive that fits one console may be useless for another. Prices and sellers change quickly, while unreleased game sizes are often repeated as facts before a publisher has confirmed anything.
Expansion Bay separates those questions. We check what a drive can do, what it costs at the exact listing we opened, and whether buying anything is actually necessary.
Which sources we trust first
Console behavior comes from Xbox or PlayStation documentation. Release dates, platforms and published game sizes come from the game publisher. Product dimensions and model details come from the manufacturer. Price, stock, seller and return details come from the exact retailer listing and are shown with the time they were checked.
What our labels mean
A publisher figure is reported as published. A retailer price describes only the exact seller and listing we checked. An estimate stays labeled as an estimate and includes the planning method. An observed measurement will identify the hardware, software version and measurement time. If none of those sources establishes the answer, we say not yet known.
We do not present synthetic benchmarks or copied review scores as our own testing. We also do not turn an unpublished install size into a confident number because a release is popular.
How prices are handled
We match the model, capacity, retailer and seller before showing a price. Old checks expire instead of remaining on the site as if they were live. A listing can still exist while being such a poor price that we will not recommend buying it.
How we pay for it
Some SanDisk and Amazon links can earn a commission, while other retailer routes remain unpaid. We disclose paid links near the recommendation and do not let compensation change the minimum correct answer. The full explanation is here, including the parts that are inconvenient for us.
